The development of new interdisciplinary sciences and technologies in the world, persuaded the then officials of the University of Tehran in this direction so that this university, which has been known as the symbol of higher education in the country, does not lag behind the world's scientific flow.
Therefore, after the necessary considerations, it was decided to establish a faculty with the new mission of attracting elites and researchers and conducting interdisciplinary, applicable research in order to create and provide the knowledge for industrial and national centers and to promote entrepreneurial pursuits among graduates with promising outlooks.
Therefore, the University of Tehran's Faculty of New Sciences and Technology was approved by the University's Board of Trustees on January 25, 2010, and was inaugurated by the then president on April 19, 2011.
